About
This custom made lander features a triangular framework with a removable rack for buoyancy spheres to ease transport and handling. The antenna is a 2 m Ø28 mm stainless-steel tube mounted on a flotation rack with powerful AISI 316 springs. The system is prepared for a deep-sea profiler (model 500.135, rated to 6000 m), VHF beaconing and xenon flasher, and incorporates catch ring, burn-wire release preparation, and fixtures for acoustic release transponders. Structural members are aluminium tube 50 × 50 × 4 mm (floatation rack and lower frame) with 4 adjustable legs. Buoyancy uses 17" glass spheres with PE-HD hard hats (approx. 25 kg per sphere). Ballast components include aluminium buckets (I.D. Ø26 cm), brackets, acrylic tube chain guards, and adjustable holders for acoustic release transponders in stainless steel 316 and polypropylene.
