About

This autonomous benthic lander is designed for deployments down to 6000 m depth. It features a hydraulically actuated benthic chamber for sediment incubation and recovery, along with a 12-syringe multi water sampler capable of both sampling and injection of fluids such as preservation agents or isotopic tracers (e.g., carbon or nitrogen). The system includes multiple structural and operational subsystems: an antenna and flotation rack with stainless steel springs; a hydraulically driven shovel for sediment core recovery; robust aluminium and stainless steel framing; ballast and burn wire release mechanisms; and complete integration of beacon, safety, and acoustic release components.
