About
KC Denmark epibenthic sledge 19.750 is a system for sampling benthic and benthopelagic fauna. The sledge consists of a rectangular AISI 316 stainless steel frame with a mesh net attached. When towed along the seabed, its weight scrapes into the benthos, collecting organisms from the surface and upper sediment layer. A mechanically operated flap closes the net during deployment and opens when the sledge touches the bottom, allowing sampling of both seabed organisms and fauna in the water column just above the benthos (approx. 25 cm). The net bucket at the rear collects the sample, and the windows are protected by stainless steel mesh for durability.
